When Should I Change My Toothbrush And Which One Should I Choose ?

Part of good dental hygene is having the right tools for the job and the most important tool is your toothbrush. It is the main weapon in our fight against dental problems but how long is it before your toothbrush becomes ineffective against the ememy 

Replacing your toothbrush on a regular basis is very important but when should you do it. ?

Most dental professionals recommend that you replace your toothbrush every 3-4 months but it is important to keep an eye on it as you may need to replace it sooner if the bristles of the brush become frayed or damaged. 


There are many different toothbrushes on the market today so where do you start when choosing the best type.

The general opiion of most dental professionals is  that a soft-bristled brush is best for removing plaque and debris from your teeth. the brush should also have a  Small-head, as  they can better reach all areas of the mouth, including the back teeth which are hard-to-reach 

The type of the handle, shape of the head and the type of bristle are also important but this is more down to personal choice. It is best to choose one that you are comfortable with using. Remember to pick a toothbrush that fits into your mouth and allows you to reach all of the areas of your mouth.

Another choice is to purchase a  powered toothbrush. These can sometimes  better job of cleaning teeth, particularly for those who have difficulty brushing.
